I am an advanced beginner knitter (think lots and lots of flat projects) and a beginner quilter. Both crafts require ample time, patience, math and a good sense of humor. I love to learn about the history of both arts and feel part of a unique cadre of folks carrying on the traditions. In our rushed culture, there is something inherently odd about choosing crafts so time-consuming when you can simply purchase a scarf or blanket in mere minutes. For me, taking back my time and creating something by hand instead of depending upon a machine far, far away is precisely the point. I want to be able to spend my time transforming something by hand instead of shopping. All of my fabric projects are about the process of creation in addition to the final (cozy) result.
